Old Fashioned Fun at The Concert

Every year since 1993, the outport of Champney's West in Trinity Bay, has hosted a comedy and music concert. More popular with each passing year, it is now a 3-day event. The hilarious skits and traditional music draws crowds from far and wide. The concert is also the major source of fund raising for the local community center, playground, and hiking trails. Put on by the recreation committee, a big extended family group, this winter concert represents free wheeling outport Newfoundland humor at it's best!

The Window on Gossip skit performed by Martha and Bertha. This act makes fun of talk shows, while reviewing events that happened in Champney's West during the Year.

The Recreation Committee has played a huge part in making the community of Champney's West what it is today. The committee undertakes various fundarisers throughout the year the biggest being the annual Champney's West Concert. The Champney's West concert is sold out well in advance for all three nights of great old fashioned entertainment! 

The members of the committee all get together and make this event well worth watching. All skits and acts are put together by the volunteers and carried out with little or no rehearsing. The concert provides 3 hours of spontanous "ad-lib" comendy that keeps the audience roaring with laughter.

The Stun and Stunner act performed by the Stunner Brothers. Volunteers do a hilarious take-off of the Dumb and Dumber movie. This one is in a unique style.

During the breaks bewteen skits the audience is treated to some great down home music and singing, performed by local residents. These talented people sing, play guitars, squueze boxs, ugly sticks, spoons and more. 3 hours of amusement, traditional music , laughter and fun, who could ask for more.

The concert has become so succesful that the volunteers now also put on the show at venues in other communities along the Bonavista Peninsula. These extra one night only events allow many other people the opportunity to enjoy all that the show has to offer. Putting on such a huge affair takes an awesome amount of work, this is nothing short of  a showcase of remarkable devotion by the Champney's group of volunteers.
